Graduating from the University of South Florida in 1980 with a BFA in printmaking, Eric began his professional career in graphic arts, working as an illustrator and graphic designer in the northeast region of the US.
After twenty years of working with advertising agencies, marketing companies, product design studios and in-house corporate clients, Eric transplanted to Chicago, Illinois to serve as the Creative Director for a large international toy company (Ty, Inc.). There he developed and designed products and collateral graphics. These experiences took Eric to Hong Kong, China and South Korea and exposed him to new influences, different production methods and career-opening opportunities. Additional trips to Italy, Germany and London through the early 2000’s led to further growth and development of lifelong artistic pursuits.
New opportunities led Eric to Charlotte, North Carolina, working for a NASCAR licensee in 2006, developing products and graphics for the racing fan base. Additionally, in his spare time, he developed a series of gouache paintings that reflect the action of the racing sport in a unique perspective. His meticulous painting style captures the energy and excitement of the sport.
In 2009 Eric's pursuits brought him back to the fine art world. Continuing his art journey, he developed new paintings and participated in juried art shows exhibiting seascapes and marine coastal scenes. In addition, portraits, sports art, cityscapes and live wedding paintings continued to fuel Eric’s creative growth with the goal of capturing light and motion in unique and painterly ways. While exhibiting at outdoor juried art festivals along the East Coast, Eric was represented in southeastern galleries in Charleston, Southport as well as Charlotte.and continued working on commissions with art lovers and collectors.
Now, Eric has turned his efforts to building a new body of work with abstract paintings. Driven by the desire and drive to loosening his style and creating more energetic paintings, he's capturing emotions and feelings using more spontaneous painting techniques. Utilizing vibrant colors, textural brushwork and compositional elements that move the viewers eye around the canvas, Eric is creating new work that impact the spaces these paintings are displayed in, while evoking an emotional connection that spark meaningful conversations. Eric’s paintings are a reflection of emotions, thoughts and experiences, distilled into vibrant colors and textures through the universal language of art.
